Gen 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said to Abram, “Get out of your country from your family and from your father’s house to a land that I will show to you. I will make you a great nation, I will bless you and make your name great and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
I particularly love this passage because it is one of promise, a dream that God assures will come to pass. However the hidden secret in the passage is in Abram’s resolve to leave the comfortable and pursue the great. This pursuit is active, not passive, and can only begin when guided by:
Following God’s direction even when it makes no sense is the starting point of all achievement. To be able to obey and take advantage of the many opportunities God is willing to bring our way, we must have definiteness of purpose – knowledge of what we were created for – and a burning desire to possess it. Dreams are not born of indifference, laziness or lack of ambition, they have to be followed by action and a burning desire to be and to do is the starting point from which the dreamer must take off. Obedience is practical dreaming.
Courage is displayed by faith; moving ahead with what God has put in your heart. However faith begins in our minds before it’s translated into actions. The man who wins is the man who thinks he can. Nature has wired us to have absolute control over what reaches our minds through the five senses, the problem is that we do not exercise it. We do not repeat specific orders to our sub-conscious minds until we believe yet the bible says, faith is built by hearing.
Once these two things are guiding you in all your actions, your dreams can be turned into reality by following these simple steps:
- Harness the Power of the Mind
We are responsible for what we do with our minds. The mind can take any thought and turn it into an experience.
The key to prosper in this world is to have God’s word stored in you; you have to hear it over and over again. However you should recognize that your heart for God is at war with your mind. Repetition is the persuader of the mind. What I keep hearing, I eventually believe. What I keep hearing I begin to understand. What I keep hearing, I begin to live.
Focus is like the magnifying glass that concentrates all of God’s power to realizing a dream. The battle of life is for the mind. The battle of the mind is of focus. Focus is the key to stripping anything undesirable of its power; what we do not feed will not grow, that which does not grow eventually dies.
Your dream is your target. If your mind can conceive it you can achieve it, do not settle for anything else. Embrace the best and let go of the rest; find your dominant strengths and raise them to such a high level that your weaknesses do not seem to matter.
- Time management
Time is the most undervalued asset yet it is the only real gift that God gave us so we could exchange for anything else he has promised; we sow time to be with friends, we sow time to develop ourselves, we sow time to grow our enterprise and the exchange goes on and on.
Your goals decide your time’s worth. If you do not know what to do first you will never succeed in life. Everything has a different value, every day you have to walk away from something that matters in exchange for something that matters more.
And when you get going on your goals, romance the moments. Take life in and enjoy it, do not be in a hurry to finish and forget the rewards along the way. Life is rich, life is beautiful.
When the wheel starts turning to your favor, limit your access. Though many will demand more of you, guard yourself and them as well. Access creates demands. Demands create expectations. Unfulfilled expectations create disappointments. Disappointments bring adversaries. Delegate anything anyone else can do to avoid this disorder.
