I had the privilege of attending a leadership seminar about a year ago and one of the speakers talked to us about the necessity for change. He gave us a story about his first-born son as he began to walk and the lessons he was learning from the whole experience. As a child grows up, there is a need for movement and so he/ she will start by crawling around the house. After a while, they notice that everyone around them does not crawl rather they are walking and the curiosity in them makes them stand up and try to walk. Usually their first attempt will result in a fall, which will be quite painful for the child. How the parent reacts to the fall determines the rate at which this child will learn to walk; if the parent encourages the child to try again despite the fall, the child will quickly learn how to walk despite the pain of falling. If discouraged, never to try it again because it is painful, the child will remain a crawler and while other kids are walking, he/ she will be the fastest crawler due to years of experience! John 15:1-2 I am the true vine and My Father the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
- Pain is Inevitable
Despite passing through the early stages of life as a crawler, once the child is in school and he notices that the other classmates are walking, something will be sparked in him and he will want to walk. The other kids will also make fun of him and the ridicule will be enough to push the child to take in the pain of falling down several times just to be able to walk. The same pain that the parents were avoiding will still be felt eventually, the pain is inevitable. The more we are in Christ, the more people will object us-it is guaranteed. Persecution is a reality, not everyone will agree with your values, not everyone will support you in fact, many will ridicule you when things seem not to work out. Being fore warned is being fore armed, instead of trying to avoid the painful situations in our lives we need to prepare for them, they will come soon or later. Our company plays a big role as to how we deal with pain. We have to avoid those who discourage us and keep us crawling by avoiding the pain and hang around those who encourage us, who pick us up ten times before we walk on the eleventh try. What they did to Christ they will do to us, we have the choice to hang around “chickens” and never maximize our potential because of avoiding pain or we can soar with the eagles by growing in faith through the pain that we go through just as Jesus Christ did. John 15:18-20 If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘ A servant is no greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
- Pain is Necessary
Unless the child stands on his wobbly feet, he will never be strong enough to walk and run. The pain makes the legs stronger. Notice that it is the standing and trying to walk that precedes the legs being stronger and not the other way around. Many believers get this order mixed up in that we wait for the time we will be strong enough to face persecutions yet it is this same persecutions that will make us strong instead. We will be persecuted for the things we speak but unless we say what is wrong and what is right, the world will never know. We will be persecuted for our actions but it is this distinction between our actions and those of the world that we expose sin; the world will not know sin unless it is shown righteousness. John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. John 15:24 If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father. Concerning pain I will simply lay it down like this: no pain, no gain; our pain is their gain. We will go through rough patches so that people know Jesus Christ. This is necessary pain. John 15:21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent me. It is my prayer that, as we reflect on our Christian walk, we will find it in ourselves the need to be productive and the willingness to take the necessary pain because we love people so much, that we want them to know Christ; it is not about us, it is about them.
The priceless gift of life is love,
for with the help of God above,
love can change the human race
and make the world a better place.
For love dissolves all hate and fear
and makes our vision bright and clear
so we can see and rise above
our pettiness on wings of love.

Ecclesiastes 1:16-18 I communed with my heart saying, “Look I have attained greatness and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge.” And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceive that this also is grasping for the wind. For in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
It would not be fair to leave you with this information and let you try to change by your own wisdom and strength-it is like chasing the wind. Only in Jesus Christ does all this make sense and by the guidance of the Holy Spirit will we know the way to go. Say this prayer and receive a new life..
Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. Your Word says, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21). I am calling on You. I pray and ask Jesus to come into my heart and be Lord over my life, according to Romans 10:9-10—”If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” I do that now. I confess that Jesus is Lord, and I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.
I am now reborn! I am a Christian—a child of Almighty God! I am saved! You also said in Your Word, “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” (Luke 11:13). I am also asking You to fill me with the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, rise up within me as I praise God. I fully expect to speak with other tongues as You give me utterance (Acts 2:4).
The prayer was obtained from the Kenneth Copeland Ministries.
